About the StreetJazz Host - Wes George
I have been associated around the jazz genre all my life, growing up in a family of jazz professionals my parents played the classic swing and big band dance music throughout their 30 plus years on the road.

I grew up being bathed during practice nights by my mother who was the vocalist and pianist in the band and she would wash me during rehearsal breaks on a Sunday evening.

Although I heard all of the pop music growing up in the 50's, 60's and 70's and the soul, rock and country music that my brothers were playing in their bands I started playing soul, funk and fusion jazz in my live shows in the 70's, but apart from a radio break in Canada whereby soft rock was the menu, I continued with my live shows until 1994 when JazzNet247 Radio Europe was founded.

In the early 60's I heard a wonderful new jazz sub genre that my parents were playing with songs like the Girl From Ipanema and Wave by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Astrud Gilberto, João Gilberto and US sax maestro Stan Getz, this Brazilian Bossa Nova rhythm was to start me on a love affair with this beautiful music which has lasted to this day.

Growing up in the 70's and working in the music store which my parents opened in the latter years of their playing careers I played in bands and played every album by the Average White Band, George Benson, Boz Scaggs and of course worked every possible night through the Disco Era when artists like Chic, Sister Sledge and Bee Gees became household names.

In the late 70's I was asked to help out some friends in Canada which lead to radio work as well, but with a totally different menu of music than I had played in many countries in Europe, but not one I was totally unaware of with artists like Asia, Kansas, Hall And Oates, Foreigner, Journey and Linda Ronstadt who were to become plays on my daily radio shows broadening my own musical horizons.

About the StreetJazz Host - Wes George continued
A return to Europe in the early 80's I was working in soul and funk clubs in London and Stuttgart, Germany and upon my return to the UK in the 1990's I was playing in clubs and hotels before founding JazzNet247 Radio Europe in 1994.

In a lifetime in the music industry as a Musician, DJ, Radio Presenter, Jazz Historian, Music Shop Owner, Instrument Repairer, Nightclub Manager, Sound Engineer, Marketer, PR Guy, Multimedia Producer, Webmaster and Online Marketer to major label Sony Jazz UK, Music Reviewer and Radio Station Host, Engineer and Producer I have enjoyed playing and introducing music and especially the jazz genre which has been the underlying love of my lifetime in the music industry and in particular Bossa Nova and Mainstream Jazz.

The station project and the considerable costs to keep it legal for the past 27 years are bourne by myself for the benefit of todays' jazz artists, luckily I have gained the various skillsets through the years to undertake most of the technical, design and production work, and although the basics and design are probably a little dated now they still seem to function ok.

Having amassed some tens of thousands of albums along a 60 odd year journey it would be a shame not to try and share this wealth of knowledge with those who are interested for as long as I can.

I have also enjoyed a lifetime in sport and have represented my country at amateur soccer and golf and today I enjoy cross country skiing, golf, cycling and Nordic Walking. I am a huge fan of aviation and have also been working towards my Private Pilots Licence since I started my Bucket List.
