Featured Artist - Patrick Yandall
Patrick Yandall is a Guitarist, Composer, Producer, Engineer and Multi-Instrumentalist who hails nowadays from San Diego in Southern California and his music releases have charted on Billboard and have had nominations at the Grammys.
artist

During his formative years his family finally settled in Michigan when Patrick fell in love with the progressive styles of Jimi Hendrix, Yes, Steely Dan ( i.e. Donald Fagan and Walter Becker), George Benson and the colourful and multi-talented R & B / Soul ensemble Earth, Wind and Fire. At this time Stevie Wonder and Rufus were also defining influences in his own career path.

After attending a concert by keyboard maestro Jeff Lorber featuring Kenny G on sax as an up-and-coming young musician and protégé, it was to prove a life-changing moment for Patrick and cemented his own personal vision towards playing instrumental music.

During his teenage years he honed his performing and guitar skills in the nightclubs all over the Michigan area whereby he created a synergy based on the Jazz fundamentals of creativity, innovation and improvisation and induced the flavors of Rock and R&B to create a style which he would expand upon in the years to follow. A summer music program in Boston and years attending the Central Michigan University would help him to focus his talents on a more succinct Jazz-Fusion approach to his composing, playing and musical direction.

Patrick moved to San Diego in the early 1980’s where he featured in some cover bands in the Southern California (SoCal) Area making an instant impression and garnering many new important contacts which lead to studio work in Los Angeles for Capitol Records and eventually back in his new home city of San Diego.

This new noteriety opened many new doors for him and paved the way for many subsequent projects with other well known exponents in the jazz genre including J. Michael Verta, Michael Paulo, Scott Wilkie, Carl Evans, Jr. (Fattburger), Hollies Gentry III, Greg Vail (Kilauea), Tommy Emmanuel, Tom Braxton and many more.

He also had the pleasure of working with artists like Randy Brecker, Will Lee and Joel Rosenblatt (Spyro Gyra) who actually played on his acclaimed 'From the Ashes' set in 2004. However composing and playing his own music has always been his main priority.

Yandall has produced and/or recorded for NBC, KUSI 51, Muzak, The Weather Channel and various San Diego media outlets. His music has also appeared in feature films e.g. 'Run',  'Fruitvale Station', 'War, Inc.' and in the TV shows 'Young Sheldon', 'Speechless',  'New Girl', 'Girls', 'Shameless', 'Raising Hope', 'Impulse' and others.
