Smooth Jazz Reviews on JazzNet247 Radio Europe

As a smooth jazz journalist, I sincerely support the smooth jazz genre, as I adore the sound and recognize the diligence and hard work artists and musicians place into their craft.

As an educator, I enjoy working with youth as an English teacher of eight years and see daily the strong embrace students have for music as well.

For this reason, I expose them further to the artistry.  Some students share sincere interests in musical careers so we dive deeper into the life and times of both current and late artists. Like literature, music is personal and shared from the human condition, so there is much to acquire.

International Recording Artist and Keyboardist Extraordinaire William Green releases his new single release “The Power in You” (July 7, 2020).  Thoughtful and measured, with you in mind, Green veers and advances a new hope-filled mature sound for listeners. For this Herbie Hancock and Quincy Jones inspired keyboardist, “The Power in You”, (title track for the album, “The Power in You” scheduled for release February 2021) has arrived with a divine message of empowerment for listeners. Green now celebrates as he develops this fifth project, adding even more care and attentiveness for his listeners.

His fourth album, “Mind Rush,” (2018), Green imparts sheer ingenuity, his personal style and gift of play in obedience to the authenticity of his artistry. Through this project, listeners get to ‘major-in’ the high-energy sophistication of the ‘William Green Groove’.  Green creates the energy here with eight original tracks of ten. Listeners unfamiliar with this high-energy dramatic sound should NOW lend an ear especially with the new sound release coming next year.

For a time such as this with “The Power in You,” Green reminds us of our authority in the higher power. He successfully sets the tone with drummer, P. J. Spraggins and bass guitarist, Sean Michael Ray. Opening with a welcoming, ever so delicate soft sophisticated melody on keys, Green plays light-fingered here as he details his hope filled urgent message for listeners. Alto saxophonist, Kelley O’Neal collaborates with Green as the two beautifully develop and share the meaning of the song. George Rhone shines on persuasion and Spencer Bean exquisitely peaks the tune on lead guitar. With sincere care for the listener and at the heart of his goal, Green selects the talented vocalist, Karen Bryant to join him singing the powerful message, “The Power in You”.
The gifted Green writes, arranges, and produces “The Power In You” under Magic Dream Music/BMI. You can hear this powerful track here on STREETJAZZ.  ^
